Random thought - Pub night with Toronto bloggers
Lately i've been finding myself becoming more and more fascinated by the world of the Internet and particularly the blog sphere. I think it is absolutely phenomenal that through the expression of yourself on a blog, you can virtually connect with anyone anywhere with people who share the same interests as yourself and who are interested in what you have to say. Recently on facebook, I joined a group called Greater Toronto Bloggers. The group itself is self explanatory through the name, its a place where Toronto bloggers can connect and read other blogs from the city.
They actually held a pub night tonight at the Victory Cafe, where bloggers could come out and meet the "faces behind the posts" of other Toronto bloggers. The turn out was very decent and ofcourse in gatherings with people who love to share their opinions and thoughts, I met some interesting people, chatting away the evening with wonderful conversations. Henna from Canadian Beauty was there as well (she's also apart the TFBB), I love seeing familiar faces and although this wasn't a fashion bloggers specific gathering, we still had our dose of fashion and beauty related talks =) The Internet has come a long way from "don't put your picture and personal info on there" to "come out and meet the people behind the blogs you read" as if it's absolutely normal to meet your online friends. Maybe it's the words they use now a days that make it more socially acceptable... like "social media" or "blogs and bloggers" and not "cyber space" or "online chat rooms". Either way, it's definitely good to see that the Internet has evolved into such a positive tool for socializing and networking for the "real life". But more importantly it's just really awesome to be able to put faces behind the blogs you read all the time.

Talk is cheap - A social media unconference
It was great seeing so many familiar faces this past Thursday at the Talk is Cheap conference organized by Gary Schlee, the co-ordinator of the Centennial College Corporate Communications program. Over 150 industry professionals and PR enthusiasts showed up for an evening of insightful presentations about current trends in social media. Out of the 4 sessions I attended, I especially enjoyed Joseph Thornley's "pitching to bloggers" and Shachin Ghelani's "building brand equity leveraging social media". Whether you were an experienced professional already in the industry or a recent grad entering the industry, the conference or "unconference" I should say like this one was extremely educational and beneficial. For a first time event, I would say that this was a huge success... maybe Gary will be hosting these annually?

The National Women's Show - Nov 2rd, 3rd, & 4th
The Women’s Show was definitely the highlight of my weekend, my best friend Cath and I went to the National Women’s Show at the Metro Convention centre for the first time ever this year and we had such a good time! Perfect for a girls outing of all ages, there was tons of shopping, sampling, free stuff (hair products, food, magazines, etc), and coupons. The best part of it was, a lot of the merchandise was available for lowered prices special to the attendees of the show. Here are my favourites from the show:
LARA BAR’S so delicious and healthy (also found in the purses of many celebs that are keen on eating healthy). Some flavours available are cherry, cashew cookie, and apple.
Terra Chips - another great tasting and healthy snack. Given away in the visitors gift bags, exotic vegetable chips with a "seasonal mix of Taro, Sweet Potato, Yuca, Batata, Parsnip, and
Ruby Taro".They should make more belts like this practical and trendy with the added bonus of button pockets and inside zippers. Made of real leather also from http://www.dubarrycanada.ca/
Jewelry from Thomaso Designs, absolutely beautiful necklaces.
Who says that boots made for hunting, gardening, and the outdoors can’t be fashionably stylish (I'd pick these boots over the UGG boots any day) and durable … made of real leather and COMPLETELY WATER RESISTANT. http://www.dubarrycanada.ca/

Meeting fellow fashion bloggers of Toronto - TFBB 12
While it was the 12th Toronto Fashion Bloggers Brunch, I attended my FIRST EVER yesterday at the Brassaii Bistro! In the company of ...
Amanda (a fellow reader)
Danielle - Final Fashion
Anita - I Want - I Got
Henna - Canadian Beauty
Eden - Bargainista
Irene, Sonja, Liza, & Rachel - Torontostreetfashion
Adrian - Fashion Verbatim
I enjoyed a tasty Brassaii Egg Benedict while listening and chatting about the future of Canadian fashion, fashion PR, and the politics surrounding this year's Toronto L'oreal Fashion Week. It was so exciting to finally meet with the authors of blogs that I read all the time. TFBB is an event open to all fashion bloggers and readers, looking forward to the next!

Art of Fashion - Trunk show
While out for a girls night on Friday (Oct 4th) Michelle, Tara, and I decided to stop by a highly advertised trunk show for a mini shopping excursion which was held at the Heliconian Hall in Yorkville, Toronto. Art of Fashion showcased some of the top emerging Canadian designers for both clothing and jewelry. Not really in the mood to shop (for once) we did a quick in and out where everyone managed not to buy anything except for myself. A very cute little hand made beer bottle cap pin designed by Adrienne Butikofer, caught my eye for $3 (she is the one in the first picture sitting by her table). Aside from designing fashionable clothing and accessories Adrienne also designs never seen before, unique, and practical winter mini slip on hoods (Michelle is posing with the grey mini hood) and scarves with little permanent bow ties on them. As i'm sure the girls would agree, this was a fun mini shopping experience!
